The story continues with Yahya Budgami, the son of a MakhsoosUllah, and his sons Davood and Yaqoob. Around 1803, the British took over the task of freeing the emperor Shah Alam from the captivity of the Marhats and the brothers fought on behalf of the British. Only one son, Yousuf, survives the war. Akbari, a prostitute, marries her daughter Asghari to him. Asghari daughters, Anwari, Umda Khanum and Chhoti Begum, continue the story.
